How To Solve A Problem Like Kindle

While Apple’s new iPad isn’t a dedicated e-book reader with the lack of an E-ink screen, it is still a device aimed squarely at the ebook market, somewhere currently controlled by Amazon and their Kindle. While the Kindle does have an E-ink screen – and will almost certainly be a much more pleasant reading experience – reading is pretty much all the Kindle does. Until Steve Jobs held up his new baby to the world most of us didn’t even realise we needed a device of this nature, but now we – or at least us tech-savvy folk – certainly do. So what can Amazon do to protect its valuable position of ebook market leader?

Launch of the iPad

Yesterday Apple’s boss Steve Jobs announced the company’s newest touchscreen mobile device; the iPad. The 9.7” tablet computer takes the same form factor as the iPod touch or iPhone with a huge, crisp LED-backlit touchscreen and just a small, black Home button. It’s made out of aluminium and glass and packs the same unibody construction as the MacBook Pros.
